TOLEDO, Ohio, September 26, 2018 – Toledo Express Airport (TOL) celebrates today Allegiant’s one-millionth passenger flying through TOL on the 1:24 p.m. flight to Punta Gorda Airport (PGD). Passengers who were on board the 1:24 p.m. departing Allegiant flight each received a $100 airline voucher as a token of appreciation for choosing to fly Allegiant out of Toledo Express Airport.
“Today marks a historic moment at Toledo Express Airport as we celebrate Allegiant reaching the tremendous milestone of serving one-million passengers in our market,” said Paul Toth, President and CEO of the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority. “This accomplishment would not have been possible without the continuing support from Toledo area travelers, as well as Allegiant’s ongoing commitment to Northwest Ohio.”
The airline, which has served the Toledo market for nearly 13 years, began service out of TOL on December 15, 2005, connecting Toledo and Northwest Ohio to many vacation destinations. Today, Allegiant offers low fares and nonstop service to Orlando Sanford, Ft. Myers/Punta Gorda and St. Pete-Clearwater, Florida.
“We are thrilled to reach the one-million mark at Toledo Express,” said Kristen Schilling-Gonzales, Allegiant Managing Director of Planning. “We’ve seen a lot of growth over the past 13 years and we know there are more great things to come with our partnership with TOL and with the Toledo community.”
Allegiant service at TOL has helped drive the airport’s five consecutive year-over-year increases in passenger totals. This year, passenger traffic on Allegiant has increased 4.1 percent for the first eight months of 2018 when compared with the same period in 2017.
