TOLEDO, Ohio, June 23, 2016 – The Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority and Greyhound Lines, Inc. held a ribbon cutting ceremony today to mark the completion of a newly renovated Greyhound station at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Plaza. The new Greyhound station will share a common space with Amtrak, who has operated out of the Plaza’s first floor since 1996.

“We are very excited that Greyhound is now operating out of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Plaza,” said Paul Toth, president & CEO of the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority. “Relocating Greyhound to the train station was always our plan after purchasing the building in the 1994, and we’re happy to see that plan come to fruition.”

The renovations cost approximately $500,000 to construct, and include new office space, baggage areas, a ticket counter, and outdoor canopies and bus slips in front of the building. Greyhound, who began operations at its new location yesterday, currently offers 26 daily schedules from the new Toledo station.

“Greyhound is excited to continue serving the Toledo community at our new intermodal facility, which offers our customers smooth connectivity to a variety of transportation options in the same facility,” said Deborah Laney, regional manager customer experience for Greyhound Lines, Inc.

The addition of Greyhound makes Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Plaza a true multi-modal facility. The Plaza will be open 24 hours a day; with Greyhound operating from 6 a.m. to midnight, and Amtrak operating from 10:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Additionally, a Port Authority owned and operated franchise of Subway® will soon open its doors, serving fresh meals to both Amtrak and Greyhound customers.
