The Great Lakes Seaway Partnership - Traditional and project cargoes transit the St. Lawrence Seaway in November

(December 15, 2016) – “November was a good month for the export of agricultural products and shipments of aluminum ingots on the Great Lakes Seaway System,” said Betty Sutton, Administrator of the U.S. Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation. “Under the binational trade development program known as ‘Highway H2O’, the U.S. and Canadian Seaway Corporations have raised international awareness about the advantages of exporting grain products via the Great Lakes Seaway System and it is paying off.”

presented the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority with the Best Project Award for The Dana
Project at Overland Industrial Park at its 2016 Annual Summit held October 19-21 in Columbus,
Ohio. The Ohio Economic Development Association’s annual excellence awards program
recognizes economic and workforce development achievements throughout Ohio. The Best
Project category recognizes outstanding and innovative projects in economic and business
development that retain or generate jobs and investment.
TOLEDO, Ohio, June 23, 2016 – The Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority and Greyhound Lines, Inc. held a ribbon cutting ceremony today to mark the completion of a newly renovated Greyhound station at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Plaza. The new Greyhound station will share a common space with Amtrak, who has operated out of the Plaza’s first floor since 1996.

TOLEDO, Ohio, May 9, 2016 – The Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority and NAI Harmon Group announced today that Dana Holding Corporation will open a new high-tech axle manufacturing facility at Overland Industrial Park, making Dana the first tenant on the recently redeveloped site. The addition of this new facility has the potential to employ over 300 associates by 2020.

National Train Day Celebration

TOLEDO, Ohio, May 6, 2016 – Toledo’s Amtrak Station will host the ninth annual National Train Day Toledo Celebration on Saturday, May 7, 2016 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Plaza located at 415 Emerald Ave. in downtown Toledo. The free event will serve to raise awareness of the vital roles passenger and freight rail play in our nation’s transportation system. The Toledo event is sponsored by Amtrak, All Aboard Ohio, Norfolk Southern, the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority, TMACOG, Northwest Ohio Passenger Rail Association and many others including freight railroads, businesses, unions and community organizations.

TOLEDO, Ohio, April 25, 2016 – The Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) held a ribbon cutting ceremony today to mark the completion of a new 5,000 square foot General Aviation Facility at Toledo Express Airport. The General Aviation Facility will be used to clear certain international flight crews, passengers and cargo.

PARTNERSHIP TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO LOCAL SMALL BUSINESSES
TOLEDO, Ohio, March 1, 2016 – Paul Toth, President and CEO of the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority, and Steve Fireman, the Economic and Community Development Institute’s (ECDI) President and General Counsel, announce today a partnership to continue to provide access to small business loans to qualified microenterprises and entrepreneurs in Lucas County and the Greater Toledo area. The Microenterprise Development Initiative is designed to provide access to capital and technical assistance to start-up and existing ventures finding it difficult to obtain traditional financing. The Port Authority will be the point of access and ECDI the lending partner. ECDI has over 40 loan funds and will provide loans from $500 to $350,000 to qualified small businesses. It will also provide technical assistance throughout the life of a loan, up to five years of assistance.
