Washington, D.C. (May 14, 2015) – Even with a slight blip due to ice coverage in late March and early April, U.S. ports along the Great Lakes-Seaway System are tracking ahead of tonnage moved in April 2014. In fact, most ports are seeing increases in multiple categories.
TOLEDO, Ohio, April 30, 2015 - The Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority’s BetterBuildings Northwest Ohio (BBNWO) program has completed its energy data results as part of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Better Buildings Challenge, which targets 20 percent energy reduction in buildings by 2020. The Port Authority’s headquarters building located at One Maritime Plaza was selected as the showcase project for this challenge, which achieved an annual energy savings of 43 percent and reduced electricity demand by 2.5 megawatts.
WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 24, 2015) – The U.S. Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation (SLSDC) today announced that seven U.S. ports in the Great Lakes St. Lawrence Seaway System are receiving the prestigious Robert J. Lewis Pacesetter Award for registering increases in international cargo tonnage shipped through their ports during the 2014 navigation season compared to the previous year.
Port Authority to provide up to $50 million in financing for The Andersons’ new headquarters facility

TOLEDO, Ohio, February 27, 2015 – The Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority Board of Directors yesterday approved a lease agreement with The Andersons, Inc. to acquire and construct an approximately 130,000 square foot corporate headquarters facility in northwest Ohio through a number of Port Authority financing mechanisms totaling up to $50 million.
Toledo Express Airport Reports 11.65 Percent Increase In Passenger Enplanements For 2014

TOLEDO, Ohio, January 16, 2015 – The Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority welcomed 2015 with positive growth and momentum at Toledo Express Airport (TOL). The airport closed out 2014 with an 11.65 percent increase in passenger enplanements and an increase in overall passengers of 10.83 percent for the year. A total of 176,545 passengers made the choice to fly through TOL in 2014, which helped drive the airport’s second consecutive year-over-year double digit increase in passenger traffic. Port Authority reports for December 2014 show that overall passenger traffic at TOL was up 4.5 percent over the same month in 2013. December marked the airport’s twenty-first month of increased passenger traffic since 2013.
(Washington, D.C. – January 14, 2015) The results of a year-long infrastructure investment survey were released today by the American Great Lakes Ports Association and the Canadian Chamber of Marine Commerce. The survey was commissioned by a coalition of U.S. and Canadian Great Lakes-Seaway maritime industry stakeholders, and was conducted by Martin Associates of Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
