“We’re very excited to start vertical construction at Overland Industrial Park,” said Paul Toth, President and CEO of the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority. “This class ‘A’ building will be designed to meet the demands that we are seeing in the market today, and we’re hopeful that we will have a new tenant at Overland upon completion of this project. The Port is dedicated to bringing new life to this historic and important piece of land in northwest Ohio.”
Construction on this building will begin sometime in the next couple of weeks and is estimated to take approximately six months to complete. The 100,000 square foot class “A” pre-cast, concrete industrial building will have a ceiling height of 32 feet; it will be designed to suit warehouse/distribution or light manufacturing/assembly operations. The building will also include truck docks and modern column spacing and design features.
"Approximately three and a half years ago, Paul Toth and Matt Sapara had a vision to develop a Class ‘A’ distribution park on the Overland Parkway site,” said Ed Harmon, Managing Partner of Overland Industrial Park I, LLC. “Industrial Developers has teamed with the Port to bring state of the art industries to Toledo, Ohio. We will be able to market this site nationwide to create this Class ‘A’ distribution and warehouse industrial park. With the partnership of the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority, the vision has now become reality."
“The City of Toledo is proud to partner with the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority on the Overland Industrial Park,” said Mayor D. Michael Collins. “The Port has made great strides since they acquired the property in 2010. The construction of the spec building is just one more step to increased employment and economic opportunities for our region.”
Last fall, the Port Authority completed the installation of a new roadway located off Central Avenue, which will serve as the main entrance into the site until the Ohio Department of Transportation completes phase two of the I-75 interchange project.
In addition to this spec building, the Port Authority announced last spring that Airgas, Inc., the largest U.S. distributor of industrial, medical and specialty gases, will construct a new facility at Overland Industrial Park. Construction on this new facility is also slated to begin this summer.
The master plan for Overland Industrial Park features amenities such as improved interchange access from I-75 and industrial facilities with modern and energy efficient utilities. The Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority officially acquired the historic 111-acre former Jeep Property in 2010. The property is served by Class I rail, offers easy access to the interstate system, and is seen by as many as 125,000 passing motorists each day, making it attractive to many potential end users.
It is the mission of the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority to continuously focus on job creation by leveraging our strategic geographic position, resources and economic development proficiency to provide increased business opportunities—built upon and around our innovative transportation and logistics expertise—while promoting our community and region within the global marketplace. We will accomplish this through unmatched speed and efficiency of service, collaborative and strategic partnerships, community stewardship and the continued generation and execution of new ideas and innovations.
