Toledo Express Airport Reports First Quarter Increase in Passenger Traffic on American Airlines

TOLEDO, Ohio, April 17, 2014 – Passenger traffic at Toledo Express Airport (TOL) continued to climb during the first quarter of 2014 with a 14.44 percent increase as compared to the same period during the previous year. A total of 47,164 passengers made the choice to fly through TOL during the months of January, February and March. American Airlines showed an 8.19 percent increase for the quarter, with a total of 18,618 passengers. This upward trend indicates that more northwest Ohio travelers are booking flights from TOL when purchasing airfare.

“We closed 2013 with a year-end passenger increase, marking the first year-over-year increase seen by Toledo Express since 2004,” said Paul Toth, President and CEO of the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority. “This first quarter trend builds upon that momentum as local business and leisure travelers continue to show increased support for the airport. With the combined ease of using Toledo Express Airport, the opportunity to connect nearly anywhere in the world through Chicago on American, and the great non-stop, low cost options to Florida on Allegiant, travelers are finding that TOL is a preferred option when booking travel.”
